MTSU Trumpet Ensemble
The award winning MTSU Trumpet Ensemble is comprised of select members of the school's trumpet studio by audition and invitation. Under the direction of Dr. Michael Arndt, the ensemble performs a variety of works, ranging from classical, to contemporary and avant-garde, to jazz. In June of 2006, the MTSU Trumpet Ensemble performed a Concert Prelude for the dynamic and awe inspiring Monzil Brass to a sold-out international crowd at the
International Trumpet Guild Conference hosted by Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. The concert featured Bruce Broughton's Concertpiece for Eight Trumpets and Remembrances, the world premier written by MTSU trumpet/jazz faculty member, Jamey Simmons. Recent performances include opening for the 2006 Schermerhorn Symphony Center open house, The Day of Music. The ensemble performs frequent concerts both on and off campus and has competed and won awards in the National Trumpet Competition.
