2007 MTSU Brass Performance Clinic



Dear Area Brass Players:

The School of Music at Middle Tennessee State University is pleased to announce the fourth annual MTSU Brass Performance Clinic on Saturday, November 3rd, 2007. The all day event is open to all high school students, grades nine through twelve. School music teachers and private instructors are also invited to attend and participate. Participants will attend clinics hosted by MTSU faculty and area professionals including members of the Nashville Symphony and Nashville recording artists. An afternoon concert will feature the MTSU Faculty Brass Quintet, the MTSU Symphonic Brass Ensemble, and the resident award winning student ensemble, the Broad Street Brass. The Brass Band of Huntsville, directed by Joel Mason, will present an evening concert certain to inspire the finest musicians. Clinics will be offered on a variety of topics including Effective Audition Strategies, Studio Session Playing, Conducting, and Careers in Music including college preparation and resume building. All participants will have opportunities to play their instruments in the Warm-up with the Pros, individual masterclasses, and brass ensemble reading sessions.

Pre-registration is requested so that we may better plan for your attendance. Please register online and you may indicate your interest in the various clinics offered. Due to space limitations, it may be necessary to limit attendance in certain clinics; to ensure availability of certain events, sign up now. Registration is simple and only takes a couple of minutes. The cost for the entire event, including tickets to the Brass Band of Huntsville, is only $15.00 in advance, or $20.00 at the door. Please make a check or money order payable to MTSU School of Music. Checks should be mailed with medical release and permission forms to: Michael Arndt, MTSU School of Music, Box 47, Murfreesboro, TN 37129. All proceeds are used to defray costs necessary to bring this event to the public.
